STAR SPANGLED AMERICAN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
AT THE VERDE CANYON RAILROAD

CLARKDALE, AZ. - A feeling of patriotic pride wells up in the chests of all Americans as we see the American symbol of freedom, the bald eagle, coasting on breezes above the Verde River. What better way to experience a true All-American adventure than to spend the July 4th holiday enjoying the wall- to- wall wonderland of the Verde Canyon wilderness!

Vintage FP7 engines power the Verde Canyon Railroad, and are proudly adorned with striking images of the American bald eagle. Passenger cars and Clarkdale depot will be festooned with the glorious red, white and blue, and stars and stripes.

The festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. on the shaded patio, with an All-American outdoor barbecue, tickets for which may be purchased upon arrival at the train depot. The barbecue is also available to the general public. Everyone is welcome to come to Clarkdale to enjoy a great meal, along with the fabulous sounds of a Dixieland jazz band, performing live on the platform prior to the train’s departure at 1:00 p.m.

The town of Clarkdale is famous for its old-fashioned early morning Fourth of July parade, which starts at 10:00 in the heart of uptown Clarkdale. Visitors can enjoy a full day of family fun and history, while observing a classic All-American Fourth of July in Clarkdale, Arizona, USA this year.

Passengers will view a magnificent canyon filled with American history geology, archaeology, and tall tales from the rails. From climate-controlled cars with panoramic windows, passengers catch a glimpse of a rare Arizona riparian ecosystem, in full bloom of summer. Because the Verde Canyon Railroad is above the heat of the desert and below the cold of high country, it is the best place to celebrate 4th of July in Arizona.

After the four-hour scenic train ride to Perkinsville and back, passengers will have time to browse the Boxcar Gift Store for that one-of-a-kind piece of Americana. Room, ride and meal packages are offered by many of the surrounding hotels and motels in the area, so an extended weekend visit may be the best Independence Day ticket.

To join in the All-American Fourth of July celebration, call 1-800-293-7245, or visit the Railroad’s website at www.verdecanyonrr.com.

The Verde Canyon Railroad is located at 300 N. Broadway, Clarkdale, AZ. Ideally situated below the cold of the mountains, and above the heat of the desert, the train depot is 25 minutes from Sedona, two hours north of Phoenix, and one and one-half hours south of Flagstaff. Passengers are encouraged to arrive approximately one and one-half hours prior to departure.
